The first National Childhood TB Testing Week, which was held last year in 2023, has led to the detection and treatment of 4,054 children in Nigeria, including 114 children detected and treated in Kano State.
No child died due to TB during the week.
Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, said this during a press conference, in commemoration of 2024 National Childhood Tuberculosis Testing Week.
The Commissioner added that this year’s Childhood TB Testing Week is a week-long activity that includes other health services, such as nutrition, HIV services, and free X-ray services, among others.
