Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called on the class of Nigeria’s elite to be prepared to make sacrifices for the sake of the country’s unity.
Osinbajo made the submission at the public lecture in Abuja held as part of the activities to mark the 62nd anniversary of Nigeria independence.
Speaking to the theme of the public lecture entited: ‘the Elites and National Unity’, the Vice President said the discussion was apt at a time the country is in search of national unity and cohesion.
Osinbajo asked the elite in the country to reassure Nigerians on the possibility of equal opportunity and to believe in the country.

Guest speaker, Oladapo Afolabi said the Elites in their bid to acquire wealth have engaged themselves in negative and destructive competition among themselves, rather than be part of the forces that will lead to nation building.
The independence anniversary has given government and Nigerians another opportunity to reflect on the country’s chequered journey to nationhood.
