The Federal Government has reaffirmed Nigeria’s foreign policy direction and assured the diplomatic corps of its open-door policy and commitment to deeper, mutually beneficial partnerships.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, gave the assurance during her first formal briefing with diplomats in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Minister said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains the official channel of communication between diplomatic missions and the Nigerian Government and urged that all official correspondence be routed through the Ministry.

Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu restated Nigeria’s foreign policy direction under President Bola Tinubu, which is anchored on the Four Ds-Demography, Development, Democracy and Diaspora.
She noted that Nigeria’s approach remains Nigeria-centred, Africa-conscious and globally engaged, with strategic autonomy guided by national interest.
The Minister also appealed to foreign missions to review their visa processes for Nigerians in the spirit of reciprocity, to ease the difficulties faced by students, businesspeople and other legitimate travellers.

She assured the diplomatic community of their safety and welfare in line with the Vienna Conventions and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to multilateralism, peace and mutually beneficial partnerships.
The briefing was attended by heads of diplomatic and consular missions and representatives of international organisations in Nigeria.
