The Cross River State Government says, it will ensure that youths in the state are engaged on the dangers of drug abuse and mental health challenges especially among the young population.
The State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan-Enoh, made this known during the flag off of the fourth edition of the Calabar Walkathon programme organized by the ‘Healthy Billionaires’ Fitness Club.
The annual event with the theme “Drug Abuse and Mental Health”, notes that there is no better way of eradicating drug abuse in the state, than engaging the youths.

The State Commander of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Rachael Umebuali, and the chairman of Walkathon 4.O, Williams Archibong, expressed the determination of the Agency in the fight against drugs abuse insisting that the fight will be won, if the youths are fully aware of the dangers of drugs abuse.
The annual event includes the twelve-kilometre Carnival route walk involving participating clubs in Calabar.
