Millions of potentially lethal drugs have been destroyed at the Rivers State waste management dumpsite .

The Nigerian Navy, the Drug law enforcement agency NDLEA and Nigerian Customs Service who supervised the burning of the Illicit medicines, said were it not for the pragmatic efforts of the relevant agencies, the dangerous drugs would have found their way into the Nigerian markets, thereby destroying many lives.

The trucks were observed driving to the RIWAMA dumpsite at Aluu community in Rivers State
conveying the Illicit drugs.

One after another the sixty four containers where the drugs are stocked were emptied into the dumping arena, setting them ablaze by the representatives of relevant agencies.

Speaking on the destruction of the Illicit drugs, representative of the national security adviser Commodore Kingsley Ogbonna, and Assistant Comptroller general of customs for investigation Timi Bomodi said the eagle eyes of the country’s security agencies, and intelligence gathering led to the arrest of the Illicit drugs, hinting on the dangers of fake pharmaceutical products.
