The Nigerian Government says it is keeping an eye on the prices of foodstuff in the country following the reopening of some of its land borders.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, said this while inspecting a three kilometer rural road in Birnin Kudu local Government Area of Jigawa state.
One of the land borders reopened is located at Maigatari in Jigawa State.
During an inspection of a three-kilometer road rural road project in Masaya village now in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nanono said problems affecting transportation of agricultural produce will reduce and that this will lower the prices of food items.

Experts believe closure of the land borders had contributed to the high cost of foodstuff and essential commodities.
