Amid the ongoing war against terrorists and other criminal elements by the military, the National Examinations Council, NECO says it has been hosting successful examinations in the last few years.
The examination body has hailed the country’s security forces and said the resilience and commitment of its workforce have also ensured uninterrupted conduct of its examinations despite Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and sit-at-home orders.
NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi, in a statement described staff members as the “army of NECO,” applauding their round-the-clock alertness and readiness to execute duties at any hour.
Wushishi said during the heydays of Boko Haram, the activities of the terrorists never stopped NECO’s examination, neither has banditry, kidnapping and, even sit-at-home orders in South-East Nigeria.
He said the productivity awards for staff members were instituted to motivate them, improve service delivery, promote healthy competition and entrench a culture of excellence.
He noted that the awards underscored NECO’s belief that publicly acknowledging exemplary performance is key to enhancing quality and effectiveness of its services.
Among those honoured this year were drivers and 55 retirees.
