Badminton Federation of Nigeria has intensified efforts to reposition the sport for long-term growth and development across the country.

Members of the federation’s board converged on Abuja for a two-day retreat and strategic board meeting aimed at reviewing progress and setting new targets for the future.

Stakeholders in Nigerian badminton are once again meeting to deliberate on ways of moving the sport to greater heights.

Declaring the retreat open, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, urged the federation to embrace innovative ideas that align with the commission’s vision of building a sustainable sports economy.

He stressed the need for proper planning, stronger partnerships, and improved athlete development programmes.

President of the federation, Francis Orbih, expressed concern over funding challenges and the mental wellbeing of athletes.

To address these issues, the federation engaged resource persons to educate board members on practical strategies for financial sustainability and athlete mental health management.

The retreat is expected to produce key resolutions that will strengthen the administration of badminton in Nigeria and create a solid foundation for future international success.
