Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has finally reacted to last Friday’s judgements of the Supreme Court stopping the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN from releasing the share of the monthly allocation from the Federation Account due to the state.

The apex court also voided the Rivers State local government election conducted on the 5th of October, 2024.

Addressing the people in a statewide broadcast on Sunday, Governor Fubara, who maintained that his administration has always abided by the constitution, due process, and the rule of law, disclosed that he and his team would study the ramifications of the judgements and implement them without reservation to move the state forward.

It is the first time he would be speaking since the judgements of the Supreme Court delivered last Friday and he says his position will become clearer after he has studied the judgements.

In compliance with the Supreme Court judgement that voided the October 5, 2024 local government election, Governor Fubara has directed the heads of local government administration to immediately take over the running of all the 23 local government areas pending the conduct of a fresh election by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.

The Rivers State Governor also used the statewide broadcast to call on the people to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
