The World Health Organisation (WHO) has unveiled the official slogan for the 2026 World Blood Donor Day campaign, as the National Blood Service Agency calls for increased voluntary blood donations across Nigeria.
The slogan for this year’s global commemoration is: One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.
The Director General of the NBSA, Prof. Saleh Yuguda, disclosed this while addressing stakeholders in the blood transfusion sector, urging sustained commitment to strengthening voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation in the country.
He said the campaign is aimed at reinforcing global efforts to ensure a safe, sufficient and sustainable blood supply through regular voluntary donations, adding that blood and plasma donation remain critical to saving lives in emergencies, surgeries, maternal care and disease treatment.
According to him, the 2026 campaign will focus on increasing the number of regular voluntary donors worldwide, while also raising awareness of the life-saving importance of blood donation. ait.live Health Correspondent reports that World Blood Donor Day is observed annually on June 14, and serves as a global platform to honour voluntary donors and promote safe blood transfusion systems worldwide.
