The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has fired back at the All Progressives Congress, APC over comments blaming the opposition for the current hunger and economic hardship in the Nigeria.
The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said the APC’s attempt to blame its 16 years in power for Nigeria’s present economic woes is an evasion of responsibility.
The PDP’s reaction follows a statement made by the APC Publicity Secretary during an appearance on a television programme and similar remarks reportedly made by President Bola Tinubu in Kaduna State during the flag-off of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
The opposition party explains that after more than 10 years in power, the APC should be telling Nigerians what it has achieved and outlining concrete measures to address current challenges, rather than continually dragging the PDP into its own problems.
While it acknowledges that the Tinubu’s led government has recorded some achievements, the PDP clarifies that such acknowledgement must not be misconstrued as an endorsement of all government policies.
The Nyesom Wike- backed PDP stresses that economic challenges cannot be resolved by blaming past administrations, pointing that every government must be judged by its policies and the living conditions of its people.
The PDP asks the APC to own its record, address Nigeria’s challenges and deliver on the promises it made to the people.
