Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Nyesom Wike has urged members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to pursue genuine reconciliation ahead of the 2027 general election and win back those who defected from the party.
Wike gave the charge at the 108th NEC meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party which held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja
The meeting was attended by other prominent members of the party, including the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former national chairman of the PDP, Ahmed Markafi, some former Governors among others.
It was the maiden NEC meeting of the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led NWC, since their emergence at the Abuja convention in March 2026.
The meeting which is convened to chat the way forward for the 2027 general election, dwells extensively on the need to pursue reconciliation with aggrieved members
The PDP has been involved in a nagging leadership crisis, which splitted the party with many of its prominent members, including Governors defecting to other political parties
As the party hastens to navigate its way out of the crisis, and remain relevant in 2027, members emphasise the need for discipline and adherence to party constitution.
The National Working Committee has promised to hit the ground running by setting up a Committee to engage members from all the zones, play its role as a formidable opposition and win future Elections.
