Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has called on the church in Nigeria to urgently speak up against the many ailments afflicting the country and stop being docile about the situation.

Governor Wike stated this when he received the new primate of The Anglican Church in Nigeria in his office on Friday.

He said the carnage that followed the #ENDSARS protest will be child’s play in the face of a storm now threatening the country.

Wike said Nigeria is fast drifting into dangerous waters and warned that before the country gets swept away urgent steps must be taken to save the country saying that the church and other religious bodies must lead the quest for a better country.

He warned that the carnage that took place in the wake of the end SARS protest might just be a child’s play in the face of what’s to come.

While re-affirming his belief and commitment to a united Nigeria, governor Wike said he was not impressed with the type of federalism being practiced in the country.

The governor also took advantage of the visit by the new head of the Anglican Church in Nigeria to speak about the violent activities of the Indigenous People of BIAFRA, IPOB and the curfew his administration was forced to impose on Oyigbo Local Government Area.

Responding primate of the Anglican Church in Nigerian Most Reverend Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba said the church is proud of Governor Nyesom Wike for his support and commitment to promoting the gospel.
