The Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulrahman Mohammed says the party is stable and united ahead of its crucial National Convention scheduled for March 29 and 30.

Speaking at the party’s 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday, he emphasized that recent internal processes and reconciliatory efforts have strengthened the PDP’s structure and restored confidence among members at a pivotal moment for the opposition party.

Mohammed highlighted the successful conduct of State and Zonal Congresses nationwide, describing them as largely peaceful and reflective of democratic values.

On the upcoming convention, the chairman explained that it will shape the party’s future direction.

He praised the planning committee for its organization and momentum, singling out Okezie Ikpeazu for leadership within the convention process.

On the issue of zoning, the PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, urged members of the National Executive Committee to approach the recommendations of the Zoning Committee with an open mind, guided by equity, justice, and the overriding interest of unity within the Party, emphasizing that while no arrangement may be perfect, the strength of the PDP lies in its collective willingness to accommodate diverse interests for the greater good.

He noted that the Party stands at a critical moment that demands wisdom, restraint, and a deep sense of responsibility.
