The Nigeria Labour Congress has directed workers in states yet to fully implement the 2024 National Minimum Wage to mark the 2026 May Day on the streets.

In a directive signed by its General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, the labour centre accused some state governments of violating the law through non-payment, delayed salaries, and failure to extend the wage to local government workers, teachers, and health personnel.

The NLC says workers in affected states will boycott official celebrations and instead gather at labour houses, union offices, and public squares before embarking on peaceful processions across state capitals.
