The rescued victims of the February 3, 2026 abduction in Woro Community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, have been officially handed over to the state government after receiving medical attention. Most of the rescued victims are minors.
Speaking on behalf of the security forces, the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, said the successful rescue was achieved through the combined efforts of various security agencies.
According to Brigadier General Rume, sustained inter-agency collaboration among the security forces is yielding positive results and contributing significantly to the rescue of abducted victims.
One of the survivors, Saliu Amira, a nurse, recounted the ordeal in captivity, saying she assisted in the delivery of about ten children without gloves or proper medical equipment.

She said the victims were poorly fed during their captivity, adding that thirteen children reportedly died while in captivity, while 12 others voluntarily chose to remain with the bandits.
The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commended the security agencies for the successful operation.
The Governor said the establishment of a new Army Brigade in Kwara State would further strengthen security across the state.
He disclosed that 46 of the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention at a government hospital.
The rescued victims are currently undergoing medical and psychosocial rehabilitation as part of the reintegration process before they are eventually reunited with their families.
