The 5 candidates still in the race for the job of Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO will know their fate next week.
The 5 contenders who are from the initial pool of 8 candidates that were shortlisted, will be further pruned down to just 2 frontrunners after the second round of elimination.
The 5 remaining candidates include Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Liam Fox from the United Kingdom, Amina Chawahir Mohamed Jibril from Kenya, Yoo Myung-hee from South Korea, and Mohammad Maziad from Saudi Arabia.

However, there have been calls for an African to finally get a shot at running the organisation, which has been led by three Directors-General from Europe, and one each from Oceania, Asia and South America since its creation in 1995.
The WTO aims to select new Director-General later in November 2020.
