Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State, an independent citizens movement on electoral integrity, YIAGA AFRICA, has raised concerns over threats of violence on the election day.
Executive Director, YIAGA AFRICA, Samson Itodo, told journalist, Friday in Awka, that there are possibilities of violence on the election day as revealed by the group’s pre-election observation team.
Though YIAGA AFRICA is not specific on details, it is urging the relevant institutions to ensure the effective deployment of security agents on the election day to avert any incidents.

YIAGA AFRICA is also putting the Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC, on the alert on issues of logistic concerns that could undermine the integrity of the election, especially at riverine areas.
As a way of boasting the confidence of the electorate, the YIAGA AFRICA says it will be deploying its Parallel Vote Tabulation methodology and 500 stationery observers across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State for Saturday’s election.
