Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the 2023 general elections, Professor Peter Umeadi has identified lack of political will as the bane of under-development in Nigeria.

Umeadi who made this known on Face The Nation Presidential Candidates Interview Series on AIT’s Democracy Today said, Nigeria doesn’t need an economist to fix the country but a leader with focus and political will to do the right thing. He lamented that successive governments in Nigeria have over the years lacked the political will to implement various reports and studies that were carried out to better the affairs of the country.

Speaking further, the Anambra State-born politician mentioned that as the the head of government, all the President needs to do is to identify what needs to be done, the right people to do it and the political will to implement it without thinking about whose ox is gored.

“In government, at the snap of a finger, you can get all the options you want before the day runs out, so you don’t have to be the economist, you don’t have to be the best security expert to know what to do. It’s now left for you as the President to look at what is before you and then ask questions to identify the best brains and hands to use to get to where you are going.

“Once you identify that and you have that will such that nobody comes to whisper anything to you, you are sure going to achieve results”

Umeadi, who is the immediate past Chief Judge of Anambra State in South-East Nigeria joined the APGA on March 20, 2019, barely 19 days after his retirement on March 1, 2019 and is currently the Presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

His elder brother, Philip Umeadi was the vice presidential candidate of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN that had former premier of defunct Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo as presidential candidate in the Second Republic.
