The 50% discount on road transportation fares facilitated by the Federal Government for yuletide travelers has begun at various locations across Nigeria.

During the official flag-off of the exercise in Abuja, representatives of the Ministry of Transportation and the various transportation unions expressed readiness to ensure seamless service delivery through the 13-day period.

Unlike the free yuletide travels through the railways, which began a few hours after the announcement, the 50% reduction in road transportation fares offered by the Federal government officially begins on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

A Ministry of Transportation official explained the reason behind what many may term as late take-off of the exercise.

Unlike the 2023 edition, take-off points at various States are harmonized this time to ensure total compliance with the terms of service.

For the transportation unions, they expressed their resolve to render quality services and abide by the agreement reached with the federal government.

ait.live reports that the 50% discount on the road transportation fares would be available for prospective travelers between 6:00 am and 7:00 pm, December 24, 2024, and January 5, 2025.
