The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has slammed a fine of five Million Naira on one of Nigeria’s private Broadcast Stations, Channels Television.
In a Letter signed by the Director General of the Commission Balarabe Ilelah and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of the media outfit titled, Broadcast of an inciting interview, the commission cited a live interview of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed on one of its Political Programmes where he said it will be unconstitutional to swear in an elected president on May 29, 2023, because of election irregularities.

The Broadcast regulator views the Broadcast as capable of inciting violence as it also violates sections of the Broadcasting Code.
Channels Television is to pay the fine of Five Million within two weeks.
NBC’s action followed a petition sent to it by the Spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign Organization, Bayo Onanuga citing a violation of the broadcast code during the Channels Television interview
