The All Progressives Congress, (APC) Zamfara State chapter has urged Governor Dauda Lawal to return to the state, to stop the bandit attacks.
In a statement, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, claimed security agents have continued to witness unprecedented dimensions of killings and loss of property, with the governor displaying complete disregard for the situation, and a lack of sympathy for rural communities.
It said that in the last three days, the bandits, who have become so bold, outrightly displaced residents of Zurmi town, the Headquarters of the Zurmi Local Government Area of the state, killing and abducting persons from the villages of Mai Shaho and other neighbourhoods of Zurmi, without confrontation.
The statement claimed that the bandits have now overpowered security personnel, including the military attached to the area, in their recent attack on Nasarawa Zurmi, and burned down operational vehicles used by the security personnel, adding that these invasions are taking place at a time when no one can tell where the governor is, or what he is doing over the carnage.
The APC, however commended the effort of the Federal Government, through the security agencies, for neutralising Ali Kawaje and Shehu Recap, who masterminded the abduction of female students of the Federal University, Gusau, and 40 other members of their notorious gang, describing it as a giant effort in tackling the menace and threats posed by criminal elements in the state.
