Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed, claims there are strong facts indicating that the recurrence of bandits’ activities in the state, is aided and abetted mostly by powerful indigenes of the state.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communication, said some of these people are strong personalities, whom the people respect, and among them also are people who receive some money, to serve as informants to bandits.
Governor Mohammed said that was why sometime back, he swore with the Holy Quran and asked all those in his administration to do the same, distancing themselves from acts of banditry in the state.
He noted that he had also called on opinion and political leaders in the state to do the same.

The governor insisted that swearing with the Holy Quran is the only way to distance oneself from the crime.
He, however, assured that his administration would not rest on its oars, but would do all it could to bring the menace to a low level.
Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara State said his administration is very concerned about the rate at which the criminals are launching a comeback, but assured that new tactics and strategies are also being deployed to deal with the trend.
The statement quoted the governor as saying,
“They don’t want our children to go to school, they don’t want us to travel and earn a living, they don’t want us to have peace in our homes and our towns and villages. They want people to revolt against the state and the Federal Government. But they will not succeed. The success is ours by the grace of God, the Almighty”.
