Zamfara Banditry: Police kill 2 gun runners, injure others along Gummi – Amka LGAs road

The police in Zamfara State say, they have neutralised two Gun Runners along Gummi – Anka Local councils’ road following an extensive gun duel between the police and the gun runners that lasted for hours.

The police revealed that the gun runners were conveying sophisticated arms and ammunition to terrorists camp in Zamfara State in Northwest from Taraba state in Northeast Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu and made available to AIT News in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The Statement explained that the feat was recorded following an Intelligence Information received about the movement of the suspects inside a Toyota Corolla Vehicle containing the assorted rounds of live ammunitions from Taraba State en- route terrorists camp in Zamfara State.

It said, two of the suspects were fatally injured while others escaped to the bush with possible gun shot wounds,

The Injured suspects were taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau, and later confirmed dead by the Doctor while on admission.

The police further said, it recovered a Toyota Corolla vehicle containing three live shells for Rocket RPG, three explosive shells 151 rounds of live ammunitions for AK 47rifle, 200 rounds of live ammunitions for Anti-Air craft and assorted charms.

Additional Joint police/Vigilant operatives were deployed to the location for rigorous confidence building patrol aimed at apprehending the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police CP Kolo Yusuf assured the public of Police continuous commitment to rid the State of banditry and other criminal activities for safety, security and peace to Zamfara state residents.
