Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received the ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award in Ghana, alongside other African-focused leadership recognitions.
The honour comes against the backdrop of discussions on leadership, peace and regional integration across Africa.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the 7th ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award ceremony brought together leaders and dignitaries at the British Council in Accra, Ghana.
The event focused on the theme, “Leadership, Peace, and Regional Integration: Advancing Africa’s Development in a Changing Global Order.”
Governor Lawal was recognised for his administration’s contributions to public sector leadership and economic reforms in Zamfara State.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ZIK Pan-African Award, His Royal Highness Professor Echefuna R.G. Onyeabadi, said the award seeks to recognise individuals whose leadership contributes meaningfully to society.
In his remarks, Governor Lawal said the honour would encourage him to intensify efforts to rebuild Zamfara State.

He said his administration had recorded progress in security, civil service reform, education, healthcare and infrastructure.
The Governor also pointed to urban renewal projects and the construction of a modern airport as part of his administration’s efforts to transform the state.
Lawal dedicated the award to the people of Zamfara State and expressed appreciation to the organisers.
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, was also among those honoured at the ceremony for his contributions to public service and sustainable development.
