The Zamfara State Government has confirmed that about 300 terrorists were neutralised by security operatives during a major operation in Gummi Local Government Area on July 9, 2026.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mahmud Dantawasa, disclosed this in a statement, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism and other violent crimes threatening peace, security and socio-economic development in Zamfara State and the North-West region.
Dantawasa said Governor Dauda Lawal commended the gallantry, professionalism and sacrifices of the Nigerian military and other security agencies, noting that their efforts have renewed hope among residents of the state.
He added that the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through logistics, intelligence sharing and other lawful measures aimed at restoring lasting peace across Zamfara State.

The commissioner also assured residents that the Dauda Lawal administration remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property under its Rescue Mission Agenda.
While congratulating the Armed Forces on the successful operation, the Zamfara State Government urged security personnel to sustain the ongoing offensive until every part of the state is free from the activities of terrorists and bandits.
