Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has flagged off the distribution of 72,000 bags of free fertiliser and other agricultural inputs to support wet season farming across the state.
The initiative is aimed at reviving Zamfara’s agricultural heritage by transforming subsistence farming into a more productive, technology-driven, and commercially viable sector.
The Governor made this known while launching the distribution of the 2026 wet season agricultural inputs in Gusau, the state capital.
Thousands of bags of fertilizers, agrochemicals, improved seeds, and modern farming equipment are set for distribution to farmers across the 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara State as part of the government’s agricultural support programme.
Governor Lawal says the gradual improvement in the security across the state has enabled many displaced communities to return home, with farmers now resuming cultivation on their farmlands ahead of the wet season.

The Governor reiterated its responsibility to provide necessary support, infrastructure, and enabling environment to enhance agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Governor, describing the intervention as timely and saying it would significantly improve their farming activities and boost food production.
The programme is designed to strengthen crop and livestock production, improve agricultural extension services, increase productivity, and equip farmers with modern farming techniques for sustainable agricultural development.
