The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal has called on Nigerians living abroad to return home with their expertise, resources, and investments, assuring them of a conducive environment and improved security.
Speaking to some members of the Nigerian diaspora community in Toronto, Canada ahead of the Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference, the Governor said Nigerians have distinguished themselves globally in fields such as medicine, engineering, and information technology.
Lawal stressed that Nigeria must harness the wealth of expertise within its diaspora community to drive national development.
The Governor urged Nigerians abroad to go beyond remittances and contribute directly to the development of their communities by bringing home their skills, experience, and financial resources.
He noted that his background in both the private and public sectors gives him insight into the challenges and opportunities of doing business in Nigeria.
On security, the Governor assured potential investors that President Tinubu is committed to creating a safe and conducive environment to protect investments and returns.
He added that the engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora will provide an opportunity to discuss challenges, exchange ideas, and identify practical ways of contributing to national development.
The Governor concluded by urging the diaspora community to consider returning home to invest directly, saying such collaboration will help strengthen the economy and accelerate development across the country.
