Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to workers’ welfare as Governor Dauda Lawal joined labour unions in commemorating the 2026 Workers’ Day.
The Governor paid a solidarity visit to the state chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress during the celebration.
Shortly after inspecting a colourful parade by workers in the state, Governor Lawal represented by the Head of Civil Service, Yakubu Haidara highlighted key achievements of his administration in improving workers’ welfare.

He noted that the government has implemented the ₦70,000 minimum wage for both state and local government workers, adding that plans are underway to extend further benefits to senior civil servants.
Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress commended the government’s efforts but raised concerns over workers’ welfare and insecurity, urging the administration to intensify its response.
The state government says it remains committed to sustaining dialogue and strengthening its relationship with workers to ensure continued industrial harmony.
