The Federal High Court Abuja has restrained the Zamfara State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge and others, from effecting the impeachment of the state’s Deputy Governor, Aliyu Mahdi Gusau.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order in a motion ex parte, moved by Ogwu Onoja SAN, on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Monday.

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), had earlier withdrawn Zamfara Deputy Governor, Mahadi Gusau from a suit seeking to unseat him and the governor, Bello Matawalle from office.
The party urged the Federal High Court in Abuja, to sack the Governor and his deputy, over their unlawful defection from PDP to the All Progressives Congress, (APC), after the PDP lead counsel, Kanu Agabi SAN, had applied for withdrawal of the deputy governor’s name, on the grounds that there was no evidence of defection from him.
PDP also formally took over the case, as the 1st plaintiff, on the ground that the mandate being contested for, belonged to it.
