The Zamfara State Government says it recorded 85 percent budget performance in the 2025 fiscal year, spending approximately 424 billion naira out of the 498 billion naira budget.
The State Government also reported a revenue shortfall, while capital projects accounted for 48 percent of the total expenditure.
The State Accountant-General, Ali Mohammed, disclosed this during a public hearing on the Citizens’ Accountability Report on the 2025 budget implementation in Gusau.
Stakeholders at the public hearing say the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and open governance while making public expenditure information accessible to the people of Zamfara State.
The State Auditor-General disclosed that the state generated more than 32 billion naira in internally generated revenue in 2025.
The Citizens’ Accountability Report brought together traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other critical stakeholders to review the state’s budget implementation and assess projects executed during the period.
Government officials highlighted projects in road infrastructure, the development of an international airport, water supply, and the procurement of armored vehicles to support security operations.
The State Accountant-General also stated that each local government area in Zamfara State had benefited from projects valued at no less than 20 billion naira since the inception of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.
According to the authorities, several capital projects are nearing completion and are expected to be commissioned before the end of Governor Dauda Lawal’s first tenure.
