Residents of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital are appealing to the Federal government to take a second look at the hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS; fuel.
They said this is not the right time for the increase, given the hard economic situation occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic, where many of the citizens can hardly feed themselves.
This action by the Federal Government amidst the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Nigerian economy is generating diverse reactions from Nigerians
Some of the residents who want the Federal Government to critically look at the policy and the effect it will have on the masses appeal for a reversal to the old price, pointing out that the coronavirus pandemic has already caused untold hardship on Nigerians.
Some respondents, who spoke to ait.live, however, see nothing wrong with the hike in the fuel price but there are others who want governments at all levels to always consider the interest of the masses before formulating and implementing some of their policies.
