The 2019/20 Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, season has been cancelled after a unanimous agreement by the management of the league, headed by Aisha Falode and club owners in the three tiers of the women’s league after a video conference held on Tuesday.
The handlers revealed the league was scrapped to protect the health of the players and officials in the various clubs, in line with the covid-19 protocols.
Reacting via a communique signed by one of the club’s chairmen, Abdul Sule, the club owners said clubs should be encouraged to prepare for 2020/2021 season in anticipation upon the time the protocol for resuming sporting activities is approved.

Sule added that the 2020/2021 NWFL season will be structured as full season with a plan to organize another draw for this purpose.
