Three persons were burnt to death on Tuesday while six others suffered varying degrees of injury as a petrol tanker exploded after suffering a brake failure and the driver crashed it into the new Kuto overhead bridge in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The ill-fated tanker was travelling to Abeokuta from the Sagamu-Siun-Kobape axis and was laden with 33,000 litres of fuel.

The crash led to pandemonium as motorists and pedestrians scampered for safety.
The injured were taken to the General Hospital in Ijaiye for treatment while 13 cars were identified in the wreckage cleared to enable free movement on the road.
