Insecurity: PDP submits petition to US, British High Commission

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has appealed to the United States and the British Government to persuade President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the incessant killings and growing insecurity in Nigeria.

The National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, in the company of other party members, who were at the British High Commission and the United States Embassy offices in Abuja to submit petitions, also appealed to the international community to salvage Nigeria’s democracy which they believe is currently under threat.

Following the Supreme Court verdict on January 14, 2020, which sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP on the ground that he did not score the lawful majority votes in the March 9 governorship election in Imo State, the PDP continued to protest against the judgment.

On Friday, the party, led by its National Chairman, took its frustration to the British High Commission and the U.S Embassy in Abuja for their intervention on perceived political intimidation of the opposition and gross human right abuses in the country.

The PDP said its quest is to get the international community to exert pressure on the administration of President Buhari to respect the rule of law.

With the growing insecurity across the country in recent times, the PDP said that Nigerians now live in fear of the moment.
