Bandits kill 30 persons in Katsina attacks

No fewer than 30 persons have been reportedly killed in fresh bandit’s attacks on the two villages of Tsauwa and Dankar located in Batsari local government area of Katsina state.

The commissioner of police, Sanusi Buba who confirmed the attack when he paid an on-the-spot assessment to the villages said, 13 persons mostly women, children and aged men were burnt beyond recognition.

 It was a pathetic and gory sight to behold in the 2 villages especially Tsauwa village where the attack was severe.

Narrating how the incident occurred, a 40-year old man, Akilu Garba whose wife and daughter were burnt to death in the attack said, the bandits in their numbers came into their village at about 7.pm on Friday while they were already in the mosques preparing for the Magrib prayers.

He said, the bandits started shooting sporadically and while people were running they started burning houses, killing people as well and rustled unspecified number of cattle.

The district head of Batsari, Tukur Ruma who was also at the village to see things for himself called on the governor and well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the survivors by way of food stuff, shelter and other humanitarian services to cushion the hardship they are facing as a result of the attack.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Sanusi Buba in company of other sister security agencies who were at the two villages to obtain firsthand information, promised severe action against the perpetrators of the inhumane act.

 Although he blamed the difficult terrain, lack of access road and lack of mobile network for the ease with which the attacks were successfully carried out, he said reinforcement of officers and men of the force has been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks.
