The Kwara state government says its decision directing civil servants to move their salary accounts from microfinance banks is irreversible.

This is in reaction to the outcry of the association of microfinance banks in the state that the government policy will run down their business as it affects thousands of workers who have their salary accounts with the microfinance banks.

Chief press secretary to Kwara state governor, Rafiu Ajakaye says the government has actionable intelligence that some civil servants connive with microfinance banks to pay some ghost workers.

However, the association of microfinance banks in Kwara state has expressed shock over the development as they claimed they were not taking into confidence and consultation by the state government, adding that about 2,000 workers in the 28 microfinance banks across the state may lose their jobs.
