The first Speaker of the House of Assembly in Old Plateau State and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Professor Dakum Shown, is dead.
Professor Shown, who was Speaker during the Second Republic from October 1979 to December 1983, died on Tuesday evening of a protracted illness in an Indian hospital.

As at the time he was Speaker, Nasarawa State had not been carved out of Plateau State.
No official statement has been released by his family, but the Mupun Development Association which is the socio-cultural group of his community, confirmed the death to AIT.
Professor Shown died at the age of 75.
