Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, says his administration does not believe in shutting down the economy of the State as a result of Coronavirus pandemic, instead he will shut down the borders to contain the spread into the State.

Ayade who was speaking during the flag-off of “No Mask No Movement” enforcement in Calabar Tuesday said despite the position of the State as a neighbour to Cameroon and states in Nigeria with Coronavirus infection, he will continue to protect people of the State from the disease.

The Governor who donated 50 vehicles for the operations and enforcement of COVID-19 No Mask No Movement order, advised that citizens are free to do their lawful businesses but insisted they must cover their nose and mouth with masks as part of measures to reduce the spread of the virus.

While commending Governor Ayade for his proactive measures against Coronavirus, Chairman of the State COVID-19 Response Team, Betta Edu said the vehicles will go along way to enforce the order.

Some citizens who came out in their large number with their nose masks assured the Governor of compliance with the order while commending him for allowing them to go about their normal duties.
