Nigeria has received another consignment of vital health supplies from the United Nations to support the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The supplies which were received by the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu
on behalf of the Nigerian Government include 10,000 test kits, 15 oxygen concentrators, and various personal protective equipment, PPE. Other items are vaccines, IEHK/PEP kits, and other vital health supplies that will support the COVID-19 Response Plan and UNICEF’s work with children and families in Nigeria.

A statement by UNICEF Nigeria says the supplies co-financed by the European Union, EU and IHS Nigeria which is the subsidiary of IHS Towers will help to prevent and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in affected states across the country.

AIT gathered that since the outbreak of Coronavirus in Nigeria in late February, the UN has been supporting the government in responding to the pandemic through risk communications and community engagement, infection prevention and control, epidemiology, surveillance and management of confirmed cases.
