At least 2 people have been reportedly killed with countless displaced in a renewed attack that occurred late Saturday night in Ikobi, Apa Local Government Area of the Benue State.
Though some residents are speculating that the attacks were carried out by armed herdsmen, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene who has confirmed the incident said it was carried out by gunmen but she could not ascertain their identities.
She equally confirmed that 2 corpses have been recovered so far.
However, the traditional ruler of Ikobi Och Ikobi, Ada Mohammed said a total of 4 persons were killed including a widow and an elderly man with 2 others injured in what he described as an unprovoked attack.

Mohammed said the attackers were believed to have come from the neighbouring village of Odejo in Agatu Local Government Area of the State as some youth chased after the assailants and killed one whom they recognised.
He maintained that the attack was totally unprovoked and that the gunmen just hid under the guise of herders attacking but in reality they were from the neighbouring community.
The State Police Command spokesperson said investigations were still on to unmask those behind the deadly incident.
