The Cross River State Government has commenced the disbursement of about N240 million COVID-19 intervention relief funds under the Conditional Cash Transfer programme of the Federal Government.
The fund is to provide succour for poor and vulnerable households across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.
Speaking during the flag-off of the disbursement in Odukpani Local Government Area, Commissioner for International Development Cooperation and Donor Supports, Dr. Inyang Asibong joined by his Finance counterpart, Asuquo Ekpenyong (Jnr) said the essence of the money was to improve the livelihood and general well-being of the vulnerable and the very poor in the society.

Some of the beneficiaries who commended both the Federal and State Governments, explained that the funds will be useful to then at this time.
In addition to the cash disbursement, Cross River State Government also distributed food and non-food items to the beneficiaries of the Conditioner Cash Transfer to further cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
