Creatives in Africa on Saturday, May 20 converged on Lagos State, South-West Nigeria to celebrate the 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards, AMVCA.
This year’s AMVCA hosted by Nigerian on-air personality IK Osakioduwa and South African model, Zozibini Tunzi recognizes exceptional talent and outstanding performances in the African film industry.
The Best Actor In A Movie/Drama series went to Tobi Bakare while TV personality and actress, Osas Ighodaro won The Best Actress In A Movie/Drama Series.
The award for the Best Movie went to ace Nigerian filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan for the film “ANIKULAPO”. In the Best Movie Director category, Lukman Ali won. The Best Movie in West Africa went to the film “BROTHERHOOD”.

In the Best Supporting Actress category, Nigeria’s Efe Irele won while the Best Supporting Actor award was picked by Abdisattar Ahmed for his role in the Somali-Kenyan film “GACAL”
The award for Best Actress In A Comedy was picked by Bimbo Ademoye; while the Best Actor In A Comedy went to Samuel Perry’s “Brother Shaggy”.
In the Best Online Social Content Creator category, Ex-BBNAIJA housemate, Elozonam and brand influencer, Bukunmi Adeaga popularly known as KieKie won. The Best Lighting Designer award went to Matthew Yusuf.
Ace Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, Mama G won the 2023 Industry Merit Award for her contributions to the movie industry in Africa.
The award for the Best Dressed Male went to Nigerian Creative, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and Ex-reality TV personality, Beauty Tukura won in the Best Dressed Female category.
Guests at the 9th AMVCA were thrilled to electrify music performances by Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage and Iyanya.
