The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has told the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu not to adopt the Buhari administration’s ‘no work no pay’ policy against workers on strike over reneged agreements.
NLC President Joe Ajaero said this while urging the Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU not to be intimidated by threats from the government to replicate the policy of withholding salaries as was done during the strike by the Academic staff union of Universities, ASUU.

Ajaero however told the deputy president of the medical and health workers union, Ado Minjibir, who is an official of JOHESU to encourage his members to be more tactical in pushing for their Consolidated Health salary structure.
JOHESU called an indefinite strike on Friday, after a fifteen-day ultimatum to the government to meet its demands over the Consolidated salary structure.
It says the agreement was reached in 2014, for equity and not a push for equality as being misinterpreted by medical doctors.
