The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc committee investigating the $10 million bribery allegation against the speaker Femi Gbajabiamila has summoned the spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP Ikenga Ugochinyere to appear before it unfailingly on Thursday.
The investigation which got underway in the House had in attendance representatives of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and lawyers of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP but its spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere was absent.
Members of the probe committee however refused to listen to the legal representative of the CUPP insisting that Ugochinyere should appear in person on or before Thursday this week.
The members said if he fails to honour the invitation, the Ad-hoc Committee will go ahead and submit its report to the House for further legislative action. It is not clear what action the Committee will recommend against Ugochinyere.
The public hearing of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee is investigating the allegation of $10 million bribery by Bill Gates as inducement to pass the Control of Infectious Disease Bill 2020 currently before the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
