Benue and Cross River States are holding their delayed Local Government Elections which have become the first such exercise to hold in Nigeria during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Cross River State, there is ongoing strict enforcement of the “No Movement order” during the election by security agencies between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mike Ushie who is leading officials along with accredited election observers to monitor the polls said every election materials has been delivered to all polling units. He says registered voters without face masks are not allowed to vote.

Ushie says the Commission has provided over 50,000 hand sanitizers, face masks, and wash hand containers for use during the elections.
Meanwhile a faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC led by Etim John says the party is participating in the local government election after another factor announced that it is pulling out of the exercise.
