Kogi State has rejected a third COVID-19 positive patient credited to it, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.
The Commissioner for information Kingsley Fanwo explained that till date NCDC has not disclosed the identity of the third case of a woman said to have tested positive from the state, describing the NCDC’s approach as one of desperation, aimed at labeling the state amongst its log of states with positive cases.
Briefing journalists in Lokoja the information commissioner said he interacted with the discharged Kabba Imam, who says he never tested positive for COVID-19.
Fanwo said that the imam’s son reported having also tested positive was never isolated, or hospitalised even after mingling freely with the father, and visitors. But the chief imam of Kabba could not be reached at the time of this report.
Kabba-Bunu Local Government was recently locked down over the reported case and contact tracing with all those tested came out negative.
Fanwo said his team will continue to work hard to ensure the state is COVID-19 free and that the virus does not enter the state.
