Bandits have reportedly launched fresh attacks on several communities in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

This is coming barely less than 24 hours after some protesting youths barricaded the ever busy Katsina/Kankara Highway in Yantumaki town.

They were protesting over what they described as the high rate of insecurity there.

They burnt tyres as well as the 2019 election campaign billboard which bore the pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari.

An anonymous witness said the bandits arrived at about 5 pm on Tuesday, shooting sporadically into the air, while the residents scampered for safety.

He added that there were no police or other security personnel in sight at the time.

The communities attacked include Kasidau, Maigora, and many nearby settlements.

The bandits were said to have broken into houses and shops and carted away food stuff worth thousands of naira.

As at the time of filing this report, the police was said not to have responded to the incident.
