Concerned citizens under the auspices of Edo Civil Society Coalition for peace and advancement have taken to the streets of Benin City, the state capital on a peaceful protest to call for peace in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.
The protest is coming on the heels of the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki by the All Progressives Congress, APC, screening Committee.
Protesters say the collective destiny of the people should be paramount as political parties conduct their primaries to select governorship candidates.

They called on political parties to ensure that peace prevails to prevent unrest and other societal ills.
