Ahead of the security meeting of the President with traditional rulers, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has expressed support for the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in the fight against crimes in the country

The body, which is seeking presidential assent to the legislative recognition granted it by the National Assembly, is expected to play a pivotal role in clearing kidnappers and other criminals from their hideouts in the country’s forests.

While receiving the Commander General of NHFSS, Joshua Osatimehin and his team in his Royal Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Oba Ogunwusi highlighted the role of the body to domestic and traditional security solutions in the country.

He noted that the intelligence gathering capacity and knowledge of their local environment will be effective in supporting the police, the military and other security agencies in the arrest and prosecution of criminals in Nigeria, and make farmlands and communities safer.

Oba Ogunwusi promised that the NHFSS Bill would be discussed during the meeting of traditional rulers with the President.

The Commander General of NHFSS told the monarch that men of the organization have been undergoing various types of training organized by the Police, Nigerian Army, Department of State Security, DSS, in preparation for the task ahead.
